50 by 25 Campaign
From 2019 to 2020, I interned as a graduate student with the nonprofit New Community Project (locally known as Vine & Fig) in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The coordinating partners and I enjoyed working together, which led taking on the role of Media & Outreach Coordinator on their clean energy campaign, 50 By 25. The goal was to have 50% renewable energy in the grid by 2025. In 2021, Harrisonburg City Council voted to support this mission.
I met weekly with the team made up of local neighbors, professors, entrepreneurs, and students. We aimed to engage diverse neighborhoods and address energy affordability, so we designed our materials to reflect an upbeat, nonpartisan approach. I crafted the logo, website, window posters, postcards in English and Spanish to city council members, and a Facebook post that addressed the sudden global pandemic.
